Clean and Simple

Hi!

   Hope all of you are doing fine. Today, I’m here with a card partly made by my son Aaron when he was 10. Aaron is 12 yrs old now; he enjoys art and craft and often gives me his opinion when asked. Just thought I’d post his card here, lest he doesn’t feel offended that I posted his sisters work (previous post) and not his. 

The Golden Poppy image was stamped by me using stamps from ‘Stamp It’- Flowers and colored by Aaron with Crayola color pencils. The sentiment was printed.

Here’s another card with a Daffodil also colored by him.

I haven’t added a sentiment on this one yet because, I want to save it for a time when I have to instantly send a card. Depending on what occasion I need it for; I add a sentiment & send it. I always have a few such CAS cards ready for use when required.

   OMG! It's almost 3 months since my last post. How time flies! I thought I would be back here in Sept. but, just could not as one thing after another popped up. A big thanks to you all for your support by sticking out here although I was MIA for so long. In fact, each time I viewed my blog, I found I had visitors and even some new friends which made me feel good. Finally, here's my card to say ' Thanks So Much' to YOU.

The stamped image of the Arum Lilly is from 'Stamp It' -Flowers. (An Indian Educational toy! I bought in India several years ago) It was colored by my DD using soft pastels. I layered it on gold cardstock, used a SRM sticker sentiment & lightly highlighted the edges with Tim Holtz (Mustard Seed) distress Ink. The latter two items were sent to me by my crafting buddies. Thanks Nina from Crafting in Croatia and Ann from Stargroves. Today, I'm able to craft with some actual crafting supplies (not even heard of here) because of you. God Bless You!

Card with a paper woven border

Hi!

   I’ve no idea what’s gotten into me but here’s the third card in red and white in succession. This time I’ve especially designed this card for a challenge at Moxie Fab. The challenge is beautiful borders. A lot of ideas came to my mind but I finally decided to make a card with a paper woven border.

To make this, a margin was drawn on a rectangular piece of red card stock on all four sides. Then strips of equal width were cut within the margin and along its length and woven with white strips of equal width to form this pattern. Very simple!! The sentiment is printed on my PC. Making this, brought back memories of my childhood when I used to weave simple paper mats & use them as a table mats for myself. LOL

Reposting my first non-traditional shaped card

   Today I happened to visit the Flashbach Friday Challenge Blog and found that the guest designer for the current challenge is my friend Julie, a last minute crafter like me. The challenge she’s chosen is to post the first non-traditional shaped card.  I like making shaped cards and here’s my first since I started blogging.

This is my first attempt at an easel card and quilled spiral roses. The scalloped circle was drawn free hand and cut using scissors.

Accordion folded flowers

  Today I’m here to share a card I made for a challenge at create. The challenge is to make accordion folded flowers. I kept to the same technique and also made accordion folded leaves and a butterfly. I wish I could add a tutorial here, but there has been no connectivity all day and now that it’s finally here, I’m posting in a hurry hoping that I’ll be just on time to link up to create after all the effort I put in to make this card.

   The papers used are a gift wrap paper for the flower and colored A4 papers for the flower center, leaves and butterfly. The basic requirement to make all three is a rectangular piece of paper, scored to form the accordion fold. In addition, to make the flower, I glued a thin strip of yellow paper along one edge before folding and after joining to form a circle, cut it to reveal petals and added a bead in the centre to cover the space. For the leaves after the accordion fold was made, it was folded in half (like a fan), the edges that met were glued then cut into leaves. To make the butterfly, I drew a symmetrical design in red, folded, tied it in the centre with brown cord for the antennae and body, cut into shape, then lightly colored the edges of the wings. The background paper is white card stock dabbed with distress ink and layered over red card stock. The sentiment is stamped, the frame around it is a rub on and the ribbon is from my stash. I hope you’ll like my new creation.
