Handmade Feather

Hi!
   Hope you are all enjoying your weekend. Here's a card I made yesterday, the embellishment for which was made from scratch.

The image above is of the paper I made with poster colours. It was my first attempt in creating a background for a card but played with it too much in an attempt to produce a marbled effect using a cling wrap and made a mess of it. So I decided to use the best portion to cut out the enlarged digital image of a feather, then created barbs with scissors and folded the shaft. I added some bling as the feather looked too lonely. I liked how the feather turned out and  I hope you like it too.

    Thank you for your visits and the comments on my previous post where I forgot to mention that my DD did the colouring for me. Sharing more of my DD's colouring today which I used in a shaker card I made for the very first time.

Heart with Joy

Hi Friends!
    Happy 4th of July to my friends in USA! Finally I made it here to post a card I'd made a month ago. Literally how time flies!! Schools are off for summer and I'm on vacation, but it's no vacation at all as housework never ends. Anyway, I made it here today with a card for Friends With Flair at Unity Stamp Company.

The white card background was spray painted with watercolours using a toothbrush & ruler in the same four colours as in the stamped image, while the heart shaped rubber stamp protected the image.

Fashion Girl Tag

Hello Friends!
    I hope you all are doing fine and enjoying the summer unlike me as the maximum temperature is around 40degC (104degF) It's awful! However, I'm happy my DD is home for summer after her Freshman year. As some of her friends haven't returned yet, whenever she feels bored she offers to do some colouring for me. So I quickly stamped a couple of images for her to colour. Here's one of her favorites which was actually meant for a card, but as I needed a tag to go along with a gift bag, I layered it on card stock to match a holographic bag.

Stitched Cross

Hi!
   A Happy Sunday to you all. So soon another week has gone by. Here's an Easter card I made for a dear friend in San Francisco with who my daughter spent her entire winter break.

Supplies used:

Scrap of plastic mesh 

Silk thread

    The cross was cut into shape from a scrap of plastic mesh which we used on our windows to prevent insects. The star stitch was used to sew it just to add some interest. Here's a pic. to demonstrate how it's done. 

If you consider the points the needle has to be passed through, as the hours on a clock, the needle has to go from 6 to 12 hrs and a knot tied behind. Next the needle goes from 1 to 7, 2 to 8 and so on in a clockwise direction. It can also be done anti clockwise, but the uniformity has to be maintained in all the diamonds. However in this case it's like a 20 hour clock as the needle has to go through 10 times not 6 as in a normal clock.                      

As the cross looked very lonely, I added some stamped rocks, grass, punched tulips and clouds. Kindly click on the image for a larger view.

Happy Birthday Simon!

   Hope all of you are well wherever you are and welcoming the spring. We are already experiencing the summer heat which is tolerable so far. Today I have two Birthday cards to share which I'd made a couple of months ago. The images were coloured by my daughter perhaps two years ago. I fussy cut the images, made the cards and sent her so she could use them to send or give her friends at university.  There is a challenge birthday at Simon Says blog so I thought I'd link them up there.

Flowering Cross

Hi!
    A happy Sunday to you all. Time is flying by so fast that I didn't realize it's been weeks since my last blog post. The change in weather is stirring up all sorts of viral infections and our family took turns with a nasty dry cough. We are all much better now. Thanks to all of you for your visits and lovely comments. I also feel happy to mention that THIS card made it to the 'Top 3' while THIS and THESE 3 cards were featured by Crackerbox Palace on Facebook. I also won some craft goodies, while a generous blog friend sent me some as RAK. To top it all, my daughter will be coming from the USA after her first semester for her long summer break and she will be bringing all these goodies along with her. That's a lot of good news right?
     Now here's a card I'd like to share today. I made it for the OBDB anniversary challenge and hope to make another one after this if time permits.

Stamped with love for Unity

    Hope all of you are well and the weather is good wherever you are. Today I'd like to share a card I made using stamps from the only Unity stamp set I've had since the past two years. It's Friends with Flair Time at Unity- a day to share cards made using their stamp and perhaps winning more. I love their stamps and I thought I'd try my luck *wink*. So, here's the card I actually made for the past Unity Challenge, but did not get here to post it on time.

Eraser on a pencil

   The background was made using the 'Bokeh' technique, which I came across on Splitcoaststampers. To achieve this effect, the eraser of a pencil is inked & stamped on the project at random, several times. I used three shades of each blue and green and enjoyed stamping away. As for the flowers and butterfly, they were stamped directly onto the card and onto scraps of card, coloured and fussy cut. The flowers were cupped with a flower tool and glued to the stamped ones at the center, while the wings of the butterfly were curled slightly and glued on the stamped one at the lower edge.

What technique is this?

    Today I'm very excited to share what I made. It's for a challenge at CASology and Simon Wednesday Challenge After five attempts at trying out this technique in different layouts like random starbursts first, which I didn't quite like, I came up with a floral design which I was happy about.

To make the starburst / flowers, I placed a small blobs of paint on the card and covered them with cling wrap. Then, starting from the center, I scratched the paint outwards, using a popsicle stick. The cling wrap was gently peeled off and the pearl center was added to the starburst. While the flower was completed by stamping the tiny flower in yellow in the center then adding the pearl.

For the swirls, three different stamps of the same stamp set were used. Paint was applied to the required portions then stamped. The yellow flowers were also stamped with paint and a pearl added.

What is this technique called ? I would call it the scratch technique.

'Z' Fold card

    My mum loves flowers. She began flower making at the age of 17 and taught scores of  young and old females over the past six decades as well as made bridal headgear, bouquets and other wedding accessories involving flowers of various kinds of fabric or paper.Today is her 86th birthday and here is a flowery 'Z'fold card I made for her.     Hope you are all enjoying your weekend wherever you are. A friend returning to the US last month, offered to carry a package for my daughter to mail it to her at her University.  She went there only last fall and besides everything is available there, though away from campus. So, I decided to make some cards and send her so she could use them whenever she required to. Today, I'm sharing three of the 12 cards I made for her.

    A happy Sunday to you all. I'm here to share a CAS card I'd made a few months ago. I just wanted to make use of the ribbon and tag stamp that were in my stash for over two years and this is what I made.

Supplies used:

Stamps - Studio G

Ribbon - Creating a Crafty Life Etsy shop

Distress ink - Rangers Mustard Seed

3D foam tape

The tag was cut after stamping it separately, the ribbon looped through, then adhered with foam tape. 

    What do you think of this card? Em! I didn't quite like it, but could not think of any other way of using the tag stamp in the CAS style. Looking forward to your valuable comments.

Hello friends!
    I hope you all had a fabulous weekend. I had to attend weddings on four successive weekends last month and was relieved to have the last one free and to spend some time crafting. Here's what I made.

    The butterfly outline sticker was placed on the parchment paper and coloured on the reverse and only the body & antennae were adhered to the card. A tiny butterfly sticker was used after the letter 'i' to cover up the 'R' trademark symbol that was there.
