Bold, Mod & Retro Style

Hello friends,

Here's a card I made for the IG Hop 'Bulid Your Stash'. The theme this month is job related ( new job / promotion / retirement). This is the first time I made a card for this theme & pushed myself to make it. I wanted make a card that would be appropriate for both genders & came up with this Bold, Mod and Retro Style card. 

Products used:

#alinacutle (square die), #darice (Retro Circle embossing folder), #MFT (letters), #papertreyink (sentiment die), #tsukneko (Brilliance platinum ink) & iridescent star sequins. 

The squares were die cut in color inspired by the colors in the graphic below. They were then placed in different sections of the embossing folder for variation of the embossed design, which was then rubbed over with ink to highlight the design. The letters were die cut in black and silver, then glued slightly offset to create a silver shadow. Likewise, the sentiment was die cut with it's shadow die. The sentiment and squares were adhered on the card base and finished off with iridescent sequins.

Glitter for Stained Glass

Today I'm sharing a Confirmation card I made a few months ago in a hurry and forgot to share it. The ongoing Time Out Challenge graphic made me realize that this card wasn't shared.

   

Products used:

#pinkfreshstudio (Sunburst stencil), #catherinepooler (ink), die (company unknown), glitter, #stampsimply (sentiment stamp), #sakura (gelly roll pen), gold paper & cardstock. 

A panel of cardstock was inked with the layered sunburst stencil. The image was die cut in black, the negatives were removed and adhered on an adhesive sheet. The adhesive sheet was fussy cut around the die cut, and inlaid die cutting was done for the cross and dove. Then, each section of the window was covered with glitter after masking the ones one either side. The card base was covered with gold paper, then layered with the stenciled sunburst and the die cut was glued in the center. The card was finished with the stamped sentiment and an eye for the dove.

Wishes for PTI's New Blog

Here's a card I made for the very first color challenge on the new Papertrey Ink Challenge Blog. I decided to play with an old, forgotten PTI product from my stash. 

Products used:

#papertreyink (Spring cutaway tags die, Tropical Teal ink & Huge Sentiments die), watercolor paper, watercolors, butter paper (for circular background) & Kraft cardstock

After die cutting the image, it was colored with watercolors. For the back of the die cut, a piece of butter paper left over from transferring the texture onto two pieces of cardstock was used. The butter paper piece was scrunched as much as possible, which gave it the appearance of an intricate network of fibers. It was ink blended on one side, then cut into a circle slightly smaller than the die cut. The uncolored side was glued to the back of the die cut, allowing the light teal color to show through. The Kraft die cut was adhered to the card base, followed by the watercolored image. The card was finished with a die cut sentiment and negatives from past projects in gold for the tiny flower centres.

Scrunched Paper Background

Hello friends,

Here's a card I made for the PFS August Challenge- Beautiful Backgrounds. I went through my PFS stash and challenged myself to try a new technique and use a die to peek through the background. This took a bit more time and effort than creating an easy background with stencils or stamps, but it was fun.

Products used:

#pinkfreshstudio (Spiral Circle die & sentiment), #catherinepooler (inks) & gems. 

A half A4 sheet of paper was scrunched up as much as possible. It was then inked using blending brushes. The inked panel was adhered to the card base with liquid glue. A panel of cardstock was die cut, glued over the inked background and cut to the size of the card base. Finished off with a stamped sentiment and gems.

Stenciling on Patterned Paper

Hello friends,

I'm sharing a card I made for the IG Hop 'Stencil Fun' with complementary colors as the theme. Inspired by the challenge at CASMixup I tried stenciling on patterned paper for the first time. 

Products used:

#dollarama (stencil), patterned paper, #catherinepooler (inks), gold acrylic paint, #lilinker (stitched square die) & #crealies (Happy Birthday sentiment in French)

The stencil was inked on patterned paper using the detailed angled blending brushes. The swirly portions of the image and flower centers were painted with a thin paint brush. The paper was die cut, glued on the card base and finished off with the die cut sentiment.

Words of Hope for Cancer

I'm sharing a card I made for the IG Hop 'An Encouraging Word' inspired by the verse from Romans 12:12 "Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer." 

Products used:

Awareness ribbon (printout), wax paper, #catherinepooler (ink), #justrite (die cut words), #k&company (transfers for words on strips), #liliofthevalley (corner stamp) & #sakura (micron 01)

After printing the free printable awareness ribbon, the subtle texture on the ribbon was created using wax paper. The wax paper is scrunched, placed between two sheets of paper to be used for the project (in this case the printout and a piece of cardstock for a future project) then ironed at a hot setting. The ribbon was ink blended, fussy cut and adhered on the card base. The sentiment strips were made with rub on transfer alphabets, then glued in place along with the die cut words. The card was finished off with stamped corners joined with the micron.

Overlapped Geometrics

Hello friends,

I'm sharing a card I made for the IG Hop 'Build Your Stash', and the theme this month was sympathy.

Products used:

#pinkfreshstudio stencil (Overlapping Geometrics), #catherinepooler (inks), #ourdailybreaddesigns (cross die), #heroarts (sentiment), #wow (embossing powder) & #crealies (sentiment strip die)

Inspired by the colors navy and teal in the graphic below, the background was inked using only three of the six stencils. The open space in the center was smooshed with the ink left on the stencil. The cross was die cut twice in black and silver cardstock. The black cross was cut in half vertically and adhered to the back of the silver cross to reveal a dark edge on either side of it, then glued to the card base. The edges of the card were darkened with the blue ink and finished off with a heat embossed, die cut sentiment.

Geometric Tiles

Hello friends,

Today, I'm sharing a card I made for the 'Stencil Fun' IG Hop. I inked this panel some months ago, inspired by colours from a challenge I can't recall and just completed this card.

Products used:

#pinkfreshstudio (layered stencil), #catherinepooler (inks), #pennyblack (edger die set & stamp for sentiment) & sequins.

The panel was inked in layers, the top edge was cut with the edger die, then adhered to the card base. The large die cut sentiment was glued in place, the smaller sentiments were stamped and finished off with sequins.

Spotlight Colored Background

Hello friends,

I'm part of the 'CASE It' IG Hop today. I was short on time to craft and wanted to make something quick. I knew the spotlight colouring would be the best option, as I hadn't done it before and happened to find a card made by Hannelie Bester using this technique. The colours were inspired by the Altenew challenge.

For the arched background, I made a stencil using plastic coated paper from a handout, by die cutting the top with a die from my stash. I just felt that a scalloped arch would perfectly tie in with the motif design. Next, I ink blended, added spatters and stamped the image. The sentiment was stamped and the strip was mounted on additional ones for dimension. Finally, I added gems to cover the few spots with spatters, but as those covered spots did not create a sense of balance, I ended up with more than I would normally add.

It's A Boy!

Hello friends,

Sharing another simple baby card I made. Now, I have a card for a baby boy too when needed.

Products used:

patterned paper & ribbon from my stash & #sentiment

The patterned paper was cut diagonally and adhered to the card base. The ribbon was glued on a strip of cardstock, so it could be folded under to avoid fraying and finished off with a stamped sentiment.

Radial Placement of Dies

Hello friends,

Today I joined the 'Build Your Stash' IG hop where we focus on building our stash for everyday occasions, so we have them when needed. This month it was baby which was lacking in my stash. I made this card using dies which have been in my stash for a decade by glueing them radially. To know how, read below.

Products used:

#tayloredexpressions (Baby Confetti dies), #lawnfawn (heart dies), #lilinker (square mat die), #SRM (sticker sentiment), patterned paper from my stash & #waffleflower rotation guide.

To begin, I cut all the dies from color and silver cardstock, cut the patterned paper into a square and cut a circle in the center. The rotation guide was aligned on the cut patterned paper, and the four die cuts were positioned on one quarter of the guide with double sided tape. With the help of the guide and a lightbox, all the dies were glued radially, including tiny silver dots which are negatives of the die cut pins. To finish the card, the sentiment was stuck at the center of the card base, and the panel was adhered in place.

Kraft Paper w/ A Framed Flower

Hello friends,

It's been a while since I made a card with kraft paper. Sharing this card I made for the IG hop 'Encouraging Word'. ‭‭Part of the sentiment was handwritten to emphasise the meaning of the assigned verse 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18. The colours and design were inspired by 'AAA Colourful' and 'Addicted to CAS' challenges. 

Products Used:

#pinkfreshstudio (Garden Party- flower & leaves & Garden bouquet- sentiment), #catherinepooler (inks) & #alinacutle (square frame)

Multiple flowers were inked through the stencils and die cut, but only one was used for this card. The sentiment was stamped and die cut. Part of the sentiment was handwritten to emphasise the meaning of the scripture verse. The sentiment was fussy cut, and only the word thankful was kept and adhered to the handwritten banner below it. The frame was adhered in place, followed by the floral arrangement, with the flower and leaves shaped to add some dimension and finished with the sentiment.
