Christmas Tag #10

Hi!
Meant to share this tag a few days ago, but somehow life intervened. I went out of my comfort zone to make this Christmas tag because of the extra blue colours inspired by the challenge at Verve and am quite satisfied with the outcome. I hope you like it too.

Supplies used:
watercolor paper
blue Distress ink
dark blue cardstock
die cut trees (RAK- Thanks Nikki)
star sequins.
SRM sticker sentiment

Distress ink was blended on the paper and water was spritzed on it. Added four layers of dark torn edged paper to resemble a hilly plateau in the shadows and adhered the tree die cut. As the tree shape was uneven, the next die cut was turned over to resemble the shape of an evergreen. After turning its branches upwards, it was adhered along its center to the first die cut. Similarly, the third die which appears to have been cut from some designed paper was adhered atop the second and finished off with star sequins.

Thanks for visiting. My posts will be very spaced out now as there are only 25 days until Christmas and there's a lot to do. Have a great day!

Christmas Tag #9

Hi!
Glad I'm able to post again today. Started on this tag last week and after a long break, I put it together yesterday. Most time was spent making the microminiature wreath which I could have done without, but I enjoy adding details. I hope you like what you see here today.

Supplies used:
Papermania tag
chalk pastels (background)
Simon says stamp-Kelly Purkey-triangles die (trees)
house die (RAK- Thanks Nikki)
Crayola markers
ice stickles
glossy accents
Crackerbox Palace (sentiment)
Brilliance-pearlescent sky blue (sentiment)
double sided foam tape
Bistro white chalk marker (snow)
The inspiration for this tag is from Kittie's day seven tag below. First all the die cut embellishments were given their finishing touch as follows...
Trees- White cardstock was used for diecutting. Next, the triangles from the diecut were cut into little trees, then coloured with green leaving parts uncoloured to depict snow.
House- The house die sent as RAK was coloured peach to red. White paper was glued on the reverse across the door and window openings, then coloured. Some white paper was cut and adhered atop the roof and chimney as snow.
Wreath- A hole punch was used on a bit of green cardstock, then cut around it to form a ring. The bow was made with two teeny winnie red triangles and two elongated triangles and the bits were put together on the ring. Stickles and glossy accents were used for its finishing touch.
The sky was blended with chalk pastels and the scene was completed the die cuts and four layers of snow banks made with torn paper. The house, two trees in front and snow bank with stamped sentiment were adhered with dimensional tape. Finally, falling snow was added by gently tapping the chalk marker with a finger.

Christmas Tag #8

Hi there!
Meant to post the very next day after the last one and just don't know how four days flew by. I'm sharing a tag I'd made over the summer, along with a matching paint splattered gift bag which I forgot to picture before sending it with my son. It will be given to the hostess my kids will be spending Christmas with during part of their winter break in Mississippi.

Supplies used:
Papermania tag
3 die cut trees
glossy accents
red glitter
gold acrylic paint
star bling
ribbon from stash
Three die cut trees were first adorned with red glitter at their branch tips using glossy accents. Using glossy accents made them appear like micro beads with dimension. The three were scrored along the centre, then glued together....first, two scored centers meeting, after it dried, the third above where the first two met. The tag was splattered with gold paint, then finished by gluing the ribbon, tree, star and bow.

Hope to be back soon with more tags.

Christmas Tag #7

Hi!
Finished this tag the day before yesterday but did not manage to blog until now. Anyway, happy with how the holly leaves turned out and hope you like it too.
Supplies used:
Papermania tag
chalk pastels
fixative spray
Crayola markers
dew drops (thanks Nikki)
SRM sentiment
The inspiration for this, is from Rahmat's day 8 tag in the pic. below. The  background was coloured with chalk pastels then sprayed with a fixative. The leaves were drawn individually and fussy cut from leftovers of the panel painted with watercolours and with splatters of silver paint used for THIS tag. Using markers, more colours were blended on the leaves, then sprayed with a fixative for a waxy shine as in the natural holly leaves. Next, the leaf veins were marked with a piercing tool for dimension. Finished off with dew drops for berries and a sticker sentiment.

Lawn Fawn-winter sparrows stamp & die set
colour pencils
puffy paint
glossy accents
The inspiration for this is from Melania's day 9 tag in the image below. The bird images were stamped, colured and die cut. Puffy paints were used on the branch and the birds woolies, glossy accents for their beaks, leaves and music notes. Finished off with the stamped sentiment and cord.

Thanks with Colours of Fall

Hi there!
Happy Sunday! Today, I'm sharing a card I'd made for one of the Falliday Fest challenges...foilage with text, but was unable to link up in time. Had fun playing with watercolours but had to make ample adjustments to show the shiny gold splatters.

Supplies used:
TLC-leaf trio dies
pan watercolours
gold acrylic paint
gold sequins
gold  cord
The leaves were die cut on watercolour paper. The paper was then given a yellow watercolour wash. While still damp, splatters of paint were added with a paintbrush in all fall colours. After it dried, a few colours were repeated and splatters of gold were added. The panel was adhered on a computer generated panel of thank yous. A gold cord with bow was fixed with tape then adhered to the card base and finished off with sequins.

Christmas Tag #4

Hi!
I'm back and really pleased with myself for being able to use embellishments from my collection and also for making one tag a day so far. So here's my fourth. It was pictured away from direct light so as to capture the holographic effects.

Supplies used:
Papermania tag
chalk pastels (background)

fixative spray
die cut star from RAK
holographic paper
holographic star sequins
Unity Ippity-Season's of joy (sentiment)
The inspiration for this tag was from Teresa's tag in the pic below. The background was coloured with chalk pastels then sprayed with a fixative. The star shapes of the die cut were concentric(original pictured in the background). The alternate shapes were removed, adhered on holographic paper, then adhered on the tag. Lastly, finished off with a stamped sentiment sequins and twine.

Christmas Tag #2

Hi!
Yeah! I'm certainly enjoying myself making tags. So I'm back with my second one today. I usually shy away from big images that need to be coloured. Mainly because my colouring skills are not good enough for an adult. Kathy Rac's colouring challenge inspired me to colour and I must admit I really enjoyed colouring this with Chemeleon pens. Hope to do better next time.
Supplies used:
Image form a colouring page
Chameleon pens
gold acrylic paint
black marker
SRM sticker sentiment
ribbon, twine & a bell
Today's tag is inspired by Sue's Day2 tag in the pic below. The image was coloured with Chameleon pens then the tag shape was cut using the Papermania tag as a template. Next, the flower centers and dots were painted, a few black dots added with a marker, mounted on black card and finished off with a sticker sentiment, a ribbon, bit of twine and a bell.

ChristmasTag #1

Hello!
Happy Tuesday! There are a couple of Christmas Tag Challenges going on which have greatly inspired me to make tags. I thought of making as many as I can to send them as a gift to a friend. Don't know if I will be able to make one for each day but I will try. Here's my first.
Supplies used:
Hero Arts- Designer snowflakes
Gina K- Bring the bling (dots)
Sentiment (company unknown)
cloud white ink
This tag is inspired by Tracey's Day1 tag in the pic below. The tag was cut from red card stock using a Papermania Tag as a template, then the sentiment, snowflakes and white dots were stamped and finished with a cord.

Happy Halloween!!

Hi!
Happy Halloween to those of you celebrating it. We do not in this part of the world, but as I owned a Halloween stamp, I made this card with the image coloured by my daughter to send our friends kids in Canada. Want to know when it was sent? ........... In 2012!! I'm sure the card no longer exists, but, I recently found it saved as a draft here and just remembered to share it with you.
Supplies used:
Prickley Pear stamp
colour pencils
handmade marbled paper from India
scallop scissors
The image was stamped on a white cardstock circle, coloured then adhered on the black card base. The sentiment was stamped on the marbled paper, cut on both edges with a scallop scissor, then adhered in place.

Sorry not been around to visit you yet due to health issues. But will surely do so soon. Have a wonderful day!

Falliday Fest- Joy Fold Card

Hello Friends!
I hope you are well wherever you are with the weather changing. I had a very busy time while my BIL was here with us and managed to make just one card to send back with him to Toronto for his sis & my SIL Celine, a victim of terminal ovarian cancer. I took time to make this card for her knowing it will be her last. She will receive my card in hand on Oct 30, when the family meet before she goes to hospice.
Splitcoaststampers had a Falliday Fest with 30 challenges from 9th to 22nd Oct, just the time I was busy. Making a joy fold card was one of the challenges. I followed some tutorials available online and made this card in shades of lavender. The colour that represents all cancers. See cancer colour chart HERE.

Supplies used:
on card front
Itsy Bitsy dp (background)
Cuttlebug-Pretty posies folder (embossed background)
MFT die-namics-Mini rolled roses
Martha Stewart-Flower shower border punch (tiny flowers)
Michael's-die cut foam sticker leaf sprigs
A Creative Journey-Awareness ribbon set #2 (vase)
acetate sheet-recycled from a stamp (vase)
Staz-on ink (for acetate vase)
Chameleon pens (vase, leaves & tiny flowers)
Taylored Expressions-Embrace beauty (sentiment)
Brilliance-Pearlescent lavender (sentiment)
die cut label from RAK
Recollections-dimensional butterfly sticker
Zig 2way glue pen
foam tape
inside the cards
Our Daily Bread Designs-ornamental crosses
Scriptures for Cancer fighters HERE
Healing Petition HERE
The size of the finished card was 5.5" x 7.5" and 4.5' x 6.5"(smaller card). The narrow fold of the larger card was 3" wide. After cutting the cards to size, the printed background paper was adhered on the larger card. The scripture verses were edited to the desired size in word then printed. Likewise, the healing petition was changed to second person singular then printed and the cross was die cut. (Links of both are added above). Both the printouts and the embossed floral background were adhered to the cards after writing in it.
For the focal image, the awareness ribbon was stamped on acetate and fussy cut. Then partly coloured in a blue Chameleon pen to depict water and shaped with a flower tool for dimension. The arrangement was made with die cut leaf sprigs coloured with a green Chameleon pen, quilled roses and tiny flowers from a border punch. The vase was secured in place with the glue pen and leaves. Then adhered to the larger card. The card was finished with the stamped sentiment label adhered in place with foam tape and a dimensional yellow butterfly (to symbolize hope) to hold the card corner.

Four cards in one post for WCMD

Hi there!
Thanks so very much for the lovely comments on my last post. Once again there's a lot of activity in blogland as W & W is having several WCMD challenges. Although I began planning and crafting soon after, I managed to complete the cards only today as my BIL is here from Canada. So, it's more of cooking than crafting. So once again, I have a long post with four cards.

CARD #1 Using a frame stamp to build a background design
I enjoy creating watercoloured backgrounds, here's another in fall colours.

Supplies used...
Frame stamp from RAK- company unknown
PTI-Spring woods (sentiment)
watercolor paper
pan watercolor
bling
The watercolored background was adhered to the card base, then repeatedly stamped with the frame stamp in white. Next the sentiment was stamped and the card was finished off with a previously die cut & watercolored leaf HERE and bling.

CARD #2 A card for a crafty friend using the pinspiration pic
I made this card for my crafty friend here, Sr. Martha...a nun in charge of a home for orphan girls. Although we cannot craft together because of our own busy schedules, we share our craft supplies and ideas.

Supplies used:
Stampology-Flourishes
Taylored Expression-Embrace beauty(sentiment)
watercolor paper

pan watercolors
The card was made using the pinspiration image below. First, the background was partially watercoloured, then stamped using seven of the nine flourish stamps from the same set and finished off with a stamped sentiment.

CARD #3 CASEing a card by Kate Capper using aqua, blue & green
Here's a CAS card with more watercolouring and changing a 'Thank You' die cut to 'Thanks'.

Supplies used:
Hero Arts-fancy die
watercolor paper
pan watercolors
stickles
bling
A panel of paper was watercoloured in blue and green. The sentiment was die cut from an aqua coloured cardstock. See the original 'Thank You die cut HERE. To make the word 'Thanks', the end of the 'K' was cut and part of the 'Y' in 'you' and the end of the 'K' were joined to form an 'S', then attached to the 'K'. To CASE the card below, the background was cut to the desired size, then adhered the die cut sentiment, a strip of aqua cardstock and finished off with stickles on the sentiment to conceal the joined 'S' and bling.

CARD #4 Building a card with Taheerah's pick & mix counters
Here's my take on the challenge using the watercolour trend, heat embossing technique, masculine theme, white as the neutral colour and four other colours...mustard, lawn, rust & merlot.

Supplies used:
four wooden stamps-company unknown
SRM sticker (sentiment)
gold embossing powder
watercolor paper
watercolor pencils

gold acrylic paint
After heat embossing the stamped leaves on watercolor paper, they were coloured with watercolour pencils. The narrow panel was then adhered to the card base and the sticker sentiment was adhered to form a border above the panel. The card was finished off with a splats of gold.
